We’re excited to announce the launch of the GORP Act Photo Contest! Submissions are open now through May 20th. Submit your photos for a chance to win cash or visa gift cards and have your work featured across GORP Act communications! Be sure to review the contest guidelines and important details below before entering.

Submission Guidelines
All photos must be submitted with the photographer’s full name, the location of where the photo was taken and the photo category to be considered (format: YourName_Location_PhotoCategory).
All participants must complete, sign, and attach the Release of Use Form with their submission. Release of Use Form
Photographers may submit up to one photo per category.
Each category will have two winners — 1st place and a youth winner (must be 18 years of age or younger).
Photos submitted in the Scenic & Working Lands and Wildlife category must by captured within one of the proposed GORP Act designations

Photo Categories
Scenic & Working Lands: Photos featuring landscapes within one of the proposed GORP Act designations.
Wildlife: Photos of wildlife captured within one of the proposed GORP Act designations.
People in and around the Gunnison Basin: Photos showing one or more people recreating, working, or enjoying public lands.
Ie. Hunters, anglers, ranchers, motorized users, outdoor recreationists, and more!
Photos submitted do not need to be taken within a GORP Act designation for consideration.
How to submit your photo(s), prizes and judging
Submit photos by May 20th, 2026 using the following link: Here.
All eligible submissions will be reviewed and judged by a committee made up of GORP Act coalition staff and supporters. Each photo will be scored on a scale of 1–10 based on overall quality, creativity, representation of its assigned category, and the values of public and working lands in and around the proposed GORP Act designations. The highest-scoring photo in each category will be selected as the winner.
In the case of a tie: Photos will be posted and voted on via the GORP Act’s Instagram story.
Winners will be announced in June 2026 through the GORP Act’s social media, our e-newsletter, and all other communication channels.
A First Place and Youth Winner will be selected for each category, for a total of 6 winners .
1st Place will receive a $100 cash or visa gift card.
The Youth Winner will receive a $50 cash or visa gift card.
Youth winners (18 years of age or younger) will be selected from eligible youth submissions within each category.
Each participant is eligible to win one prize total. If a participant submits photos in multiple categories, only the highest-ranking prize will be awarded.
Usage Rights
By submitting a photo(s), participants grant The Wilderness Society, High Country Conservation Advocates, and Western Slope Conservation Center a non-exclusive license to use and share submitted images across all affiliated communication channels. Usage of the photo will always give credit to the photographer.
Eligibility
All High Country Conservation Advocates, The Wilderness Society and Western Slope Conservation Center staff and judges of the contest are not eligible to submit photos for the cash prizes.
